Next Door – Between Life Art and “Leberkas” (60 min) provides insights into encounters between people from various life worlds in Salzburg: people who are currently pursuing artistic and/or scientific studies and people who,
upon the personal stages of their lives, are playing active and creative roles of different kinds outside the aesthetic mainstream. Oriented toward each situation as it unfolds, the viewers become participants in the various, small attempts to create cultural connections using artistic means. Their fellow travelers in the film are the people next door.
The film Next Door is based on the one-year project event “Lebenskünstler – Lebenskunst” (Life Artists – Life Art), that took place in the context of LIA – Lab Inter Arts in the academic year 2012-2013.

Life Artists – Life Art
Lab Inter Arts-Project and Seminar
In various field studies in and around Salzburg, we encounter people who are artistically successful outside of the current aesthetic mainstream. The 'stories' of these life artists and their life 'works' on their own life stages provide opportunities for small, on-site collaborations. In addition, we study texts that seek to persuade us to perceive so-called artistic activity according to current socio-political and socio-cultural points of view.
