Karin Mairitsch is a visual artist, designer, curator, lecturer, author, and editor of several books on media, society, and art. Her works and performances have been shown at national and international exhibitions. In 2020, she received a work grant from the Zentralschweizer Literaturförderung.

Karin Mairitsch, born in 1968 in Klagenfurt/Austria, studied painting at Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and wrote her doctorate on the development of study programmes at University of Art and Design Linz. In addition to her artistic activities, she was the vice di- rector for the B.A. programme and preliminary courses at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts from 2011 to 2015, vice head of Salzburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts from 2008 to 2011, and head of the MultiMedia Art study programme at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences from 2003 to 2008. She has taught at various universities and has been the head of several media-specific study programmes and courses as well as the art director and managing director at well-known media agencies.

She is committed to the concerns of visual artists as an active member of the Visarte Zentralschweiz, the professional association of visual artists in Switzerland, for which she served as co-president from 2017 to 2019 and as a board member from 2013 to 2019, and until 2016 as a board member also of the Kunsthalle Lucerne.
